The 36th Annual EVVY Awards
Welcome to Christine Hachem's Personal Fundraising Page!

Help make this year's EVVY Awards the best it can be!
Remembering myself watching the EVVYs live when I was a kid and watching my sister succeed in such an amazing production influenced my decision to attend Emerson College. Now that I am older and actually attending my dream school, I took up the opportunity to participate in what my sister did years ago and it couldn't be any better. By working on the EVVYs I have gained skills from communicating with other people to knowing how much goes behind the scenes of huge productions like this. I hope to continue to work on the EVVYs in the future and am extremely proud to be a part of this community!
Thank you for your support!
Help put The 36th Annual EVVY Awards on stage!
We are looking to raise $15,000 in order to give our hard-working production crew a professional quality experience and bring our focus back to professionalism and production quality.
Our goals are as follows:
Give students opportunities to work with equipment currently being used in the industry.
Fully support each department with a budget that allows for continued learning and growth.
- Represent all Emersonians with awards across all majors.
What is the EVVYs?
The EVVY Awards is like no other college production in the country. Modeled after professional shows such as the Emmys and the Oscars, the EVVY Awards has become the largest multi-camera, live switch event any school has to offer. This award winning show has become nationally recognized with a first place award at The National Association of College Broadcasters awards and has received two national Telly Awards.
Throughout the year, student work can be submitted in a wide variety of categories, creating a very competitive environment right here on campus. Submissions are sent out to local and national professional judges in their respective field to ensure a fair and experience judging process.
The EVVY Awards is not only an award show, it is also a student run organization which provides an adequate learning experience for hundreds of Emerson Students. Throughout the year, students can be reassured that they will be taught by using hands-on experience that will allow them to succeed in the professional world. No matter what age, or major, The EVVY Awards will have something for you.
The Gala:
The Gala is a sit down dinner that takes place in our gym which is beautifully transformed for the event providing a more intimate setting than the Majestic show. Not only does the Gala allow for additional student experiences in a different event setting but it allows us to represents all majors at Emerson. We wouldn’t be able to fit all 65 awards into one night so the Gala is in place to make sure everyone gets the recognition they deserve. Putting on two shows can be difficult, especially transforming a gym into a beautiful setting! The money we raise through USEED will directly help us raise the budget for the Gala so we can increase the quality of the experience for everyone.
Where our budget goes:
About half of our budget comes from Emerson College and the other half is acquired through sponsorship outreach, a Student Government Association appeal, and this USEED fundraising campaign. Our goal is to find the best sponsorship partners and fundraising tools so that every department, no matter how big or small, has access to the most abundant resources.
New this year:
This year we are extremely excited to be adding two new features to the show. The first being an updated submissions website. The show would not go on without student work submissions which made it vital to implement a user friendly system. Not only does this simplify the process for the students to submit their work, but it cleared the way for an improved judging system. We moved away from a ranking, to a score based system that looks at each submission through five different lenses, which allows for a well rounded look at each student's work.
We are equally excited to be incorporating an LED Screen into the scenic design to replace the traditional projector and screen. This LED Screen will allow us to integrate video packages in a more dynamic way by being able to change the height of the screen and also allow it to be moved offstage. In addition, this gives the students working on the tech team to work with a piece of equipment that is now an industry standard which you see integrated in all live award shows. This USEED campaign will help us offset these new additions to an already tight budget!
Lighting and Scenic:
The Majestic show just wouldn't be what it is without a spectacular scenic and lighting design to make The 36th Annual EVVY Awards a special night for the nominees, cast, crew, presenters, and everyone else watching the show in the theatre or at home. Like years past, our set and lighting needs push the limits of both our budget and the Cutler Majestic Stage. All donations will allow us to put on a bigger and brighter show that will make this year's EVVYs a memorable one.
Thank you for your consideration!
The EVVY Awards are about more than the trophies or dancers. They are about bringing professional experience and recognition to students across all programs and majors at Emerson College. No other organization at Emerson, or anywhere else for that matter, puts on a comparable show. We are extremely passionate about the work we do and the show that 400+ team members can put together. It is our duty to give these students the resources to produce the best show they can and give them experiences that will help them in the future here at Emerson and in their prospective professions. Any donation of any size helps us put on a show that represents everyone!
One last thing! If you can please share this on your social media pages to help spread the word!
Now that our campaign is over, we wanted to say thank you to each and every person that donated to our campaign. No matter how big or small your contribution was, we are so grateful for your generosity. When our production week begins on May 7th, we’ll be thinking of all the donations that were made on behalf of our team efforts. Crowdfunding our campaign emphasizes the value of teamwork that is essential in seeing the EVVYs come together. First and foremost, thank you to everyone who has donated to our campaign so far. You were a major part in getting us to our first milestone of $10,000. We have now raised our goal to $15,000. All the money we raised will go toward making our show spectacular. We have enjoyed reaching out to so many people to share our passion for working on this show. We'll continue to update you on all our work as we continue to raise funds for the next two weeks. For now, from all of us: Thank You!
Happy St. Patricks Day! As our submissions are rolling in, we hope that everyone submitting their work is feeling lucky!
Winning an EVVY award means the world to students. We pulled a video from our archives to show the excitement of students when they get up on stage and sees their hard work has paid off:
While our organization has been asking for funds the past few years, this year it is especially important that we receive the necessary funds to make sure our show goes up in May.
We had one clear goal going into this award show: streamline the submissions process. Without students submitting their work, there would be no show. As EVVY Award winners themselves, our team knew the past difficulty the previous submissions platform posed for students. We knew that investing in a new program would benefit the show in years to come in a positive way.
After months of searching, a submissions platform was found that suited our needs, and we’ve been working with the company ever since. Since submissions launched, there have been little problems with our system and our team has already seen the benefit of the new system.
Since we had to outsource the platform, we had to fit a new expense into our budget. The cost was worth the gain, but nonetheless we need help to make up for the money invested into the platform.
The platform was a step toward our show is working elevate the levels of professionalism in every aspect. This has also meant incorporating higher quality elements into our show. This year we have planned to bring in an LED screen as a scenic element. In the past a projector and screen were used to show visual elements such as packages showcasing nominees work. Having video and other visual content is an important piece to our show, but the projector limited other technical aspects when it came to camera work during broadcast.
All award shows today feature an LED screen as an aspect of their scenic design.
Therefore, incorporating one into our set allows students to get first hand experience using a piece of equipment that they will encounter in the real world. While it has added to the technical budget, it will provide priceless lessons for our students working hard on the show. Once again, the money being contributed through USEED will allow us to work with an outside supplier to bring an LED screen in.
We’d like to thank everyone who has donated thus far. If you are following along on our journey toward reaching our goal, please feel free to reach out to our team with any questions you may have.
Welcome to the USEED campaign for the 36th Annual EVVY Awards. Our show is just a few months away, but our staff has been hard at work since before last year’s show even ended! You may be wondering what we’ve been up to, so let us tell you!
Over the summer, our Executive Producers got to work assembling a team of the best and brightest from all majors here at Emerson. When we returned to Boston in September, we got new members of our team and scenic plans began and dreams of EVVY36 became real.
In early October, our Executive Producers launched a search for hosts of both the Gala and Majestic shows. We had an incredible group of talented students come out and the producers had a tough choice to make. Students all across campus eagerly waited for the unveiling of the four amazing personalities leading the EVVYs this year…
Finally on November 1, our hosts for the Majestic Show, Madeline Addis (’18) Thomas Doelger (’18) and Gala, Ellen Rothfuss (’17) and Angelina Salcedo (’17) were announced.
As all our teams were hard at work through November, we took a quick break for Thanksgiving but were back at it soon enough. Plans for scenic and lighting were becoming finalized and some exciting new additions to EVVY36 were in the works. The Logistics Division worked hard to set-up a new submissions platform to streamline the process.
Before the end of the semester, the EVVYs hosted an open mic which welcomed hidden talents from all across campus. The winner of the night, Tim Gamanche, impressed the crowd with his original songs and won a pair of tickets to both the Gala and Majestic shows!
While the team headed home for winter break, plans were still being laid for the coming semester so when the Spring semester commenced the team was sprinting ahead. An announcer was chosen, dance auditions were held and submissions were launched:
We’ll be posting updates as our team continue their handwork through the semester. Make sure to follow along on our journey through the live broadcasts of the Gala on April 23rd or the Majestic show on May 12th!
